FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 12-30-2004
ROSEBUD COUNTY CRIMESTOPPERS IS ACTIVE AGAIN
COLSTRIP, MONTANA- The Colstrip Police Department
announces a partnership between law enforcement agencies serving
the residents of Rosebud County to reactivate the Colstrip based
Crimestoppers program. The participating agencies include the
Colstrip Police, Rosebud County Sheriff's Office, BIA Law Enforcement
Service on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation and the Federal Bureau
of Investigation. The existing Crimestoppers board of directors
will remain in place and will be joined by representatives of
the involved law enforcement agencies. Representatives of the
crimestoppers board and involved police agencies have met and
pledged their support and cooperation in utilizing crimestoppers.
The basic premise behind the crimestoppers program is that ALL
callers can remain anonymous when reporting information on a crime.
Rewards are authorized up to $1000.00 for information that leads
to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for committing
the crime.
The Colstrip Police 9-1-1 Center is the contact point for crimestoppers
calls. Crimes can be reported by calling 748-3050 within Colstrip,
or toll-free at 1-800-469-3050 outside the area. The information
received will be directed to the agency responsible for the investigation.
The investigating agency will report back to the crimestoppers
board with a confirmation if the information received led to the
solving of the crime. The panel members will then decide on the
reward amount, and arrangements will be made to get the reward
distributed in such a manner as not to reveal the callers identity.
Chief Larry Reinlasoder of the Colstrip Police Department stated
that police are interested in any specific and detailed information
related to crime in the communities within Rosebud County, and
which may lead to the arrest of those responsible. Thefts, burglaries,
vandalisms or drugs are just a few of the types of crimes that
callers may have information they wish for the police to know
about. Crimestoppers is the perfect source to use to communicate
with law enforcement in a secure and anonymous manner.
