COLSTRIP POLICE BEARS FOR KIDS PROGRAM

COLSTRIP, MONTANA- Colstrip Police Chief Larry Reinlasoder announced that the Colstrip Police Department another tool in its arsenal. The CPD hopes that it can be an effective method of dealing with problems that the police are called on to handle. The tool is not a weapon, not a piece of advanced electronic equipment nor is it a new gun. The tool is a cute and cuddly stuffed animal. Chief Reinlasoder had expressed a desire to provide something that could help calm children the police may have contact with during police investigations, in times of crisis or other traumatic events. Colstrip citizen Joe Oberth stepped forward and donated a number of stuffed animals that the police can give to small children in hopes of providing them some comfort and reassurance during a critical time in their lives when they or their families have contact with the police. “Children are the most precious and vulnerable of our community and anything we can do to lessen the trauma they may experience is positive, ” said Chief Reinlasoder. Reinlasoder went on to say that people like Joe Oberth make Colstrip such a great community. “Colstrip is so lucky to have involved and caring folks like Joe, and there are certainly many, many more like him in this town, who support law enforcement in their efforts.” The new police program will be referred to as “Give your Heart to a Kid.”
